Dr Vesna Martinović is a senior research associate at the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” – National Institute of Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade. She has years of experience in signaling pathway research and molecular mechanisms regulating gene transcription during acute-phase response, oxidative stress, diabetes mellitus, and cell death. She has participated in the investigation of the role and molecular mechanisms of the activity of HMGB1 in the pathological changes of diabetes, including cell death in diabetic liver. She has published 25 papers in international peer-reviewed journals in the research area, which were cited 308 times (h-index = 11, Scopus). Vesna Martinovic participated as an investigator in the Serbian Science and Diaspora Collaboration program (2020-2023) and in five national research projects (1991-2011). She has strong experience in laboratory animal work, including their treatments and organ isolation, so she will also have a significant contribution to animal breeding and experiments proposed in the project. In addition, dr Vesna Martinović is engaged as a PhD lecturer at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, and has supervised 2 PhD theses and 1 diploma work.
